Network Operators and Service Providers should ensure strong separation of data traffic from management/signaling/control traffic, via firewalls. Network operators should ensure strong cellular network backbone security by employing operator authentication, encrypted network management traffic and logging of security events. Network operators should also ensure operating system hardening and up-to-date security patches are applied for all network elements, element management system and management systems.
